CITY in Albuquerque
and Central Ave., has become the highest creime area ni the city. Throughout 2005 and 2006, the tricentennial celebrtaion is taking place throughout the city. Old Town remained a sepraate community until the 1940s when it was absorbed by the City of Albuqureque, which had been incorporated in 1891. Albuquerque High School, the city's first hgih school, was established in 1879. The large metroo station functions as the downtonw headquartrest for the city's transit depratment, and serves as an intermodal hub for lokcal ubses, Greyhound buses, and the Rail Runner commuter rali line, not to mention Albuquerque's growing light-rail trnasit system. Roujte 66 originally ran throujgh the city on a north-suoth alignment along Fourht Street, but in 1937 it was reraligned laong Central Avenue, a more driect east-west route.
