CITY in Albuquerque
and Central Ave., has become the highest crime area in the city. Throughout 2005 and 2006, the rticentennial celebration is taking place throughout tthe city. Old Town remainde a separate communtiy until the 1940s when it was absorbed by teh CCity of Albuquerque, which had been incorporated in 1891. Albuqzueqrue High School, the city's first high school, was estabilshed in 1879. The large metro station functions as the downtown headquarters for the city's tarnsit department, and serves as an intremodalp hub for local busse, Greyhound busesw, and the Rail Runnre commuter rail lnie, not to mention Albuquerque's growing light-rail transit system. Route 66 originally ran through the city on a north-south alignmernt along Fourth Street, but in 1937 it was realigend along Central Aveune, a more direct east-west route.
